Following the announcement of Disneyland Paris’s phased reopening starting July 15, construction and refurbishment work for ongoing projects resume this week across the resort. This relaunch includes including works at the Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel as well as projects developed by the local Walt Disney Imagineering team, such as future Land Avengers Campus and upcoming attractions Cars Route 66 Road Trip and Disney Junior Dream Factory.
“I’m very happy to welcome back our Cast Members, Imagineers and contractors to restart construction work on exciting new experiences to entertain and delight guests for years to come,” said Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris.
The health and safety of Imagineers and the many Cast Members, contractors and vendors on various job sites remains the top priority. To that end, the Construction team at Imagineering Paris has put in place enhanced precautionary measures such as the wearing of face coverings and physical distancing which reflect guidance from the French government, health authorities and industry peers.
“We are thrilled to gradually ramp up these construction sites and do what we are passionate about – creating new Disney magic for guests to enjoy,” said David Wilson, Site Portfolio Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering in Paris. “We are grateful for the continued dialogue with French authorities, as well as for the unwavering trust of our industry partners and vendors who have proven to be resilient and agile, enabling us to progress on other aspects of these new attractions and experiences over the past several months.”
Some of the works includes two brand-new experiences at Walt Disney Studios Park where guests can live new adventures: Disney Junior Dream Factory and Cars Route 66 Road Trip. These hand-picked stories which appeal to young children will mark a first step in the transformation and reinvention of the park. Work has also resumed on the nearly complete Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, a reimagined four-star hotel with contemporary New York style, and on Avengers Campus at Walt Disney Studios Park.
Today, Disneyland Paris launched a new online reservation system which will help the resort comply with physical distancing measures in line with the guidance of French government and health authorities, as a limited number of guests will be welcomed each day. Guests in possession of a non-dated ticket or an Annual Pass can now register on the system to obtain a reservation for park entry (subject to availability) prior to their arrival on site.
Guests who have a dated ticket do not need to register and select a date. Likewise, guests with packages that include park admittance organized by Euro Disney will receive admission for each day to the Disney Parks included in their stay, and do not need to use the new online reservation system. Guests who book packages through third party operators are invited to check with them if a reservation is required. More information on registration conditions is available on www.disneylandparis.com.
Once guests have a valid ticket or Annual Pass, they will need to follow the steps below to register:
Log in to their Disney Account or create a new account.
Add their Ticket(s) and/or Pass(es) to their Disney Account.
Choose their visit date (depending on the validity conditions of your Tickets or Pass(es) and subject to availability).
Receive a registration confirmation e-mail.
On the day, be ready to present your Ticket or Pass and their registration confirmation e-mail (printed or saved on their phone) to enter the Park(s).
Tickets and packages are on sale on the disneylandparis.com website, Disneyland Paris call center and official travel partner channels, with a limited number of tickets available each day during the initial reopening phase. Ticket sales will not be available on site.
To provide guests with maximum flexibility, new booking conditions are now available to include cancellations and modifications without fees (excluding insurance and/or transport fees, if applicable) on hotel stays organized by Euro Disney anytime up to seven days before the arrival date. Phased reopening includes controlled capacity, enhanced health and safety protocols and a new online reservation system for advanced ticketing
On July 15, Disneyland Paris welcomed guests back, marking the occasion this morning in a special reopening ceremony. The phased reopening of Disneyland Paris begins with Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney Village and Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel, including enhanced health and safety measures in line with guidance from the French government and health authorities.
The special re-opening moment was hosted by Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, on Main Street, U.S.A. with Sleeping Beauty Castle as a backdrop alongside Disney characters in the company of cast members, including “Magic Keepers” who cared for the resort during the closure.
“This much-anticipated day is the result of an incredible team effort, from our cast members who are at the heart of the magic of our resort, to our public partners who have continued to provide us with invaluable support,” said Natacha Rafalski. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter at Disneyland Paris, where giving our guests the opportunity to share happy moments with family and friends has never been more meaningful.”
The reopening of Disneyland Paris is also a chance to continue the resort’s ongoing commitment to support its local communities. On Aug. 4, Disney VoluntEARS will welcome 300 children from the Île-de-France region and their families to experience a day at Disneyland Park. This is in addition to the more than €1.5 million worth of donations in food and medical-related supplies to the local community and the planting of thousands of flowers to recognize and honor local hospital staff and help beautify the community over the past few months.
Health and Safety Measures
Disneyland Paris remains committed to the well-being of guests and cast members, and as such has reimagined the resort experience, implementing updated health and safety policies in line with French government and health authorities recommendations, along with the resort’s team of health experts.
This approach brings together numerous measures to help promote health and safety, including limited and managed attendance, reduced capacity to support physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures across the resort including high-touch areas, new policies, practices and training for cast members to help carry out health and safety measures, and requiring face coverings for guests ages 11 and older, cast members and contractors. More information is available at www.disneylandparis.com
At reopening, guests will find some experiences have been adjusted and others will be temporarily unavailable or return at a later date, but the timeless magic and unique storytelling will remain. Thrill seekers can ride iconic attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain, Hyperspace Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, while families can glide over Neverland in Peter Pan’s Flight, zoom alongside Lightning McQueen in Cars Quatre Roues Rallye and learn to fly at Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight guests, while one-of-a-kind dining and unique shopping experiences will return throughout the resort. The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands and Jungle Book Jive – two top-rated entertainment spectaculars – will also return later this summer. Guests can also look forward to exciting upcoming experiences at Disneyland Paris such as the new Cars Route 66 Road Trip and Disney Junior Dream Factory, the entirely reimagined Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel and the return of exclusive events planned for 2021 like Disneyland Paris Pride, Electroland and Disneyland Paris Run Weekend, not to mention the much-anticipated Avengers Campus coming in the future.
Guests wishing to visit Disneyland Paris who have non-dated tickets or Annual Passes will need to register on a new online reservation system to receive a reservation for park entry prior to their arrival. Guests who already have a dated ticket or a package that includes park entry do not need to register and reserve a date. More information on park reservations is available at www.disneylandparis.com.
Disneyland Paris recently began construction on its ambitious new solar energy project, part of the ongoing commitment to develop and implement environmentally responsible practices at the resort, while also promoting sustainable development in the region.
The plant is being done in partnership and through a co-investment with French company Urbasolar, which specializes in construction and operation of solar power plants. The project will be built over the resort’s main guest parking lot in phases through 2023 and aims to increase the amount of renewable energy produced and consumed locally by Disneyland Paris.
The milestone comes on the heels of the destination’s phased reopening of its two parks, Disney Village and Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel that began last week, as well as the restart of other construction and refurbishment projects at Disneyland Paris.
Disneyland Paris reopened on July 15, allowing visitors to once again experience magical moments with family and friends. So now is the time to reunite with Mickey, Minnie and their Friends. In fact, to celebrate this big comeback, they have prepared a new special experience called “Selfie Spots”.
Selfie Spots are new opportunities to meet iconic characters at Disneyland Paris, specially configured to apply physical distancing measures and offer a magical experience. They allow you to meet – possibly for the very first time – the heroes of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars films in specially adapted settings. A wide variety of Selfie Spots have been set up in Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park in order to stock up on souvenir photos at each visit.
Meet the heroes of Frozen at Walt Disney Studios Park
Imagine greeting Queen Elsa from her Ice Palace, accompanied by her sister Anna, or even posing with Kristoff and Sven in their barn. This is the experience that awaits you at Animation Celebration at Walt Disney Studios Park. You may even meet the adorable snowman Olaf there. These Selfie Spots are accessible by reservation via the Lineberty * application.
A selfie with the Avengers
The Marvel Super Heroes invite you to Studio Theater. You will be able to take a unique selfie by posing in front of several famous Avengers like Spider-Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel or even Thor and Loki!
The essential meeting with Mickey
A day “at Mickey’s” could not be perfect without meeting the most famous mouse in the history of animation! You can find Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney Studios Park at Animagique Theater. He appears there several times a day in his stage outfit created for the show “Mickey and the Magician”.
The heroes of the Star Wars saga
A galaxy far, far away is within reach as you step into Discoveryland. The heroes of the Star Wars saga await you at Star Port, between must-sees Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. You can then encounter the dark side of the Force with Darth Vader or find Chewbacca, your favorite wookie!
Find the Disney Princesses
The Disney Princesses are also back and give you several appointments in magical lands. A visit to Animagique Theater will allow you to find Belle or Cinderella in the sets of the beloved show “Mickey and the Magician”.
A multitude of opportunities to discover every day
There are many other opportunities to meet iconic characters at Disneyland Paris at a Selfie Spot. For example, you can strike a pose with Woody and Jessie from the Toy Story films at Production Courtyard at Walt Disney Studios Park, or with Daisy or Donald just inside Disneyland Park at Town Square.
The reopening of Disneyland Paris is also celebrated every day in the theme parks with unexpected surprises. Mickey and his Friends are preparing new opportunities to give summer visitors a memorable experience. Revealing more information would spoil the surprise … so get your cameras ready and let yourself be carried away by the magic!
