Part of Disney Symphony of Colours, Disneyland Paris is offering visitors the opportunity to experience the show A Million Splashes of Colour on Central Plaza every day!
Played several times a day, this original creation will take guests on a journey through Disney and Pixar eras and stories – from timeless Great Classics to the most recent hits.
Today, we take a closer look at the day-to-day life of Florian, dancer of the show, and Natalia, show director.
Hello Florian, can you introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Florian, I’ve been a dancer since I was 6 years old and this is my second year at Disneyland Paris. I’m so grateful to be here for this show. And I’m part of the Cast of dancers on the show: “A Million Splashes of Colour”.
Why did you audition for this show?
I auditioned for this show because I really like the different shows that have taken place at Central Plaza in previous years. I also love dancing in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, with all the dancers.
What are your previous experiences? What is your role on the show?
Last year I had the opportunity to be part of Mickey and the Magician at Walt Disney Studios Park. Taking part in the show A Million Splashes of Colour because it’s a mix between dance, which is my passion, and Disney, which is a world I particularly love.
What’s a day’s preparation like for this show?
We arrive at Disneyland Paris in the morning. We take part in warm-ups and rehearsals with the dance captains and dancers from the show. We work on placements every day! After that, we get dressed and make-up ready for the show. We make our way to the parade’s starting point in Town Square and get position for the first of four shows.
What different professions do you work with?
I work with many different people: technicians, dancers, dance captains and the choreographer. We’re a big family, and I love working with all this fabulous team, because everyone is key to this show magical!
What does “A Million Splashes of Colour ” mean to you?
For me, the show means celebrating the past, living the present and dreaming of the future. It’s all about celebrating the Disney stories, music and colors that signify joy and happiness in our lives. It’s also about feeling connected to the show, to the costumes, the floats and the music. There’s a bond between all the teams.
What are you most looking forward to seeing guests discover when they go to see the show?
I can’t help but be happy when I see guests discovering the show for the first time. When they discover the main music “The Future’s Starting Right Now”, the costumes, the floats and the new characters on the show, it’s fabulous.
Hello Natalia, you’re the director of A Million Splashes of Colours. Can you introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Natalia Beliaeva and I’m the show director of A Million Splashes of Colour.
How long have you been working for Disney and what projects have you worked on before?
I’ve been working at Disneyland Paris for 21 years, 9 of them as show director. I’ve had the opportunity to work on several projects such as Season of the Force, Stark Expo and most recently, the 30th anniversary show: Dream… and shine brighter!
What details would you like our guests to know about this show?
We invite our guests to step outside Sleeping Beauty Castle, where Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy invite their friends to pay tribute to the original Disney stories, celebrate the present and dream about the future.
What’s your favorite detail from the show and why?
Today, I can’t say that I prefer a detail in particular, it’s the whole show that I love! It’s a brand-new creation, with new costumes, music and characters, every detail makes the show magical.
After the great success of Dream… and shine brighter! What challenges are you facing for this new show?
The show Dream… and Shine Brighter! brought a lot of dynamism and novelty. Our guests loved the modernity and energy of the show. Our biggest challenge was to keep the same dynamic and the same level of show to please our guests. So we had to create something new, with a new story and a new aesthetic, while remaining in the same place, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
How did you imagine the different generations of stories in this show? How did you link them together?
First, we thought about how we could appeal to all possible generations. The show’s story had to be simple and accessible to all generations. As a result, the show is divided into three parts based on three periods: past, present and future, moving from black and white to color. In this new story, we pay homage to the original Disney stories, celebrate the present and dream of the future with many Disney and Pixar characters.
What new characters have you brought to the show?
In the first part of the show, where we pay tribute to the original Disney stories, Mickey and Donald invite the characters we grew up with, such as Snow White, Pinocchio, Aladdin and Timon. In the second part, where we celebrate the present, Goofy invites the characters our children have grown up with, such as Tiana, Stitch, Joy and Rapunzel. Finally, in the third part, where we dream of the future, Minnie and Daisy present new Disney stories with characters such as Vaiana, Miguel from the Disney Pixar film Coco, Judy Hopps from the Disney film Zootopia but also, for the first time at Disneyland Paris, Mirabel from the Disney film Encanto and our latest heroine, Asha from the new animated Disney film Wish.
What are your best memories as a visitor to Disneyland Paris? As a Cast Member?
During my first visit to Disneyland Paris, I was touched by the music, the love, the positivity and all the effect that had on me. As a Cast Member, I’ve always worked in Entertainment. I started as a dancer, then dance captain, choreographer, before becoming a Show Director 9 years ago. My best memory as Cast Member is seeing a show come to life. After working for a long time on a show, seeing all the pieces of the puzzle come together in the end is truly magical. On top of that, each creation is very different, and in this new show we find magic, color and lots of stories, and I’m sure our guests will love it.
Why do you like working at Disneyland Paris?
I really like working at Disneyland Paris because I think it allows us to get away from our everyday lives, to dream and to follow through on our ideas. At times we need to get away from home and find joy and color, and that’s what I feel working here.
