Our cast members continue to fulfill Walt Disney’s dream of
“giving everyone the opportunity to experience moments of happiness”
Our “Citizen Action” team offers comfort, happiness and inspiration to children and families, and we further demonstrate our commitment through a range of supportive programmes aimed at educating children and their families in a fun, playful way, and inspiring them to dream.
See the actions taken by cast members of the Citizen Action team below.
Disney VoluntEARS are cast members who donate their free time to volunteer and bring to life Walt Disney’s most cherished tradition: commitment to society.
Their talents and motivation are put to use alongside actions taken by the associations. Nearly 1,000 cast members contributed over 6,369 volunteer hours in 2019. As a result, 5,000 children from the French charity “Secours Populaire” (“Popular Relief”) were welcomed to Disneyland Paris as part of “La Journée des Oubliés des Vacances” (“Holidays for the Overlooked”).
Since 1992, Disneyland® Paris has been committed to granting the wishes of sick children by welcoming more than 18,000 of them through the Disney Wish Program.
The destination offers children an enchanted getaway with their families to help forget about illness.
In order to organise these dream trips, Disneyland Paris works in collaboration with around 40 European charities specialising in wish-granting for children. In 2018, 1,278 children saw their dreams come true.
During the exceptional closure of Disneyland Paris, behind-the-scenes teams, accompanied by employee-volunteers, the Disney VoluntEARS, mobilized to help various charity organizations and medical centers within the community by donating more than 130 tons of food, protective equipment and other medical supplies, as well as comfort items, with a total market value of nearly 5 million euros.
Disney VoluntEARS also participated in the distribution of protective face masks to the residents of the resort’s surroundings as schools reopened, and helping the teaching staff by offering recreational and fun workshops. To make life easier for children hospitalized during the confinement, Disney VoluntEARS also carried out small educational tutorials from their homes, which were transmitted to them via our partner hospitals. These videos and several thousand toys were distributed to entertain the children until the next visit to their hospital from their favorite Disney characters.
All these actions are part of the approach to social responsibility at Disneyland Paris. Since its creation in 1992, Disneyland Paris has committed itself to supporting the work of non-profit organizations and neighboring local authorities in improving the lives of children and families and protecting the environment.
