Disneyland Paris welcomes children from the association Pêcheur de Lune to experience the magic of Disney’s Enchanted Christmas

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In the setting of a winter wonderland, the Disney VoluntEARS—the employee volunteers of Disneyland Paris—welcomed 100 children from French and Belgian hospitals this weekend. The children immersed themselves in the world of Disneyland Paris’s Enchanted Christmas, attending the Starlit Princess Waltz, as well as other experiences at the park including Disney’s Christmas Parade and the Disney Illuminations night-time show.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]On 16 November 2019, more than one hundred children from Reine Fabiola Hospital and other Belgian hospitals working in collaboration with the Belgian non-profit Pêcheur de Lune ASBL, as well as from the Robert Debré Hospital in Paris, visited Disneyland Park for Disney’s Enchanted Christmas season. The children had the opportunity to experience unforgettable moments, magical shows and lively encounters with the help of Disney VoluntEARS, all part of the longstanding commitment at Disneyland Paris to bring magic to hospitalised children year-round.

The children and their families started their extraordinary day by enjoying the attractions in both Disney Parks with our Disney VoluntEARS—the employee volunteers from Disneyland Paris who give their time-off for charitable actions.

They then gathered at the Walt Disney Studios Park where they watched a special showing of “Frozen: A Musical Invitation,” a brand-new interactive show inviting guests to sing iconic songs from the popular film.

Several other surprises awaited them at Disneyland Park where the children discovered “Starlit Princess Waltz” and “Disney’s Christmas Parade” from the comfort of specially reserved zones. This touch of magic gave them the opportunity to enjoy all the brilliance of Disney’s Enchanted Christmas throughout a day filled with excitement.

“We are delighted to return to Disneyland Paris for the tenth edition of our annual visit. The experience offered by Disneyland Paris enables them to set aside their worries, and experience moments of joy like other children their age,” said Xavier Ide, President of the non-profit Pecheur de Lune.

“Once again, we are very happy to have the opportunity to host children from hospitals for a magical experience at our park, thanks to the commitment of the Disney VoluntEARS,” said Richard Eltvedt, Director of Government Affairs at Disneyland Paris.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”13833″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]The Disney VoluntEARS come together to give smiles to children

This initiative was made possible thanks to the Disney VoluntEARS, Disneyland Paris Cast Members who regularly participate in charitable actions: in 2018, more than 1,000 Cast gave more than 9,300 volunteer hours.

Year-round, the Disney VoluntEARS organise volunteer actions in paediatric hospitals, and recently Mickey and Minnie traveled to Brussels with Disney VoluntEARS to bring magic to the children at Queen Fabiola Hospital.  And in France, Robert Debré Hospital and Disneyland Paris have worked together for 28 years to regularly arrange visits from Disney characters and Disney VoluntEARS. Each one of these visits bring magical moments to the children at these hospitals.

Since 1991, before the Resort’s opening the following year, Disneyland Paris has worked hand in hand with hundreds of French and European hospitals to share its magic with thousands of children to offer them magical moments outside of their daily routines.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”13831″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”13829″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”13830″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13827″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Family Volunteer Day at Disneyland Paris: 120 Disney VoluntEARS and family members wrap gifts donated by Cast Members and the company for 1500 children in hospitals across France

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13856″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]As a two-week-long toy drive came to an end, Disney VoluntEARS at Disneyland Paris gathered at Disney’s Newport Bay Club hotel this morning to wrap gifts for 1500 children in hospitals across France, all part of the company’s Family Volunteer Day.

Disney VoluntEARS—employee volunteers who contribute their free time to carrying out charitable actions inside and outside the park—spent their Saturday morning wrapping the toys with their families in the hotel’s convention centre.  The room was filled with the sounds of holiday jingles, the scent of pine from the Christmas tree, and the cheer of everyone in the room, all in an effort to bring smiles to children.

To ensure that children in hospitals across France will have a special surprise waiting for them for the holidays, Disneyland Paris Cast Members and the company both donated a total of 1500 toys. A total of 120 Disney VoluntEARS with their family members participated in the gift wrapping in celebration of Family Volunteer Day, recognised by all Disney Parks and Resorts on 23 November. As Christmas day approaches, the Disney VoluntEARS will distribute the gifts to several different hospitals across France.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”13857″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]“The Disney VoluntEARS bring magic to children in hospitals with Mickey and Minnie throughout the year. The toy drive is a way for us to involve other Cast Members and to provide these children with gifts that can stay with them long after our visits,” said Richard Eltvedt, Director of Government Affairs. “As volunteers, Cast Members at Disneyland Paris have shared magic with children in hospitals across France since 1991, even before the park’s official opening.”

In addition to today’s gift wrapping, Disneyland Paris partnered with Benenova, an affiliate of the global non-profit network, Points of Light. Alongside Benenova volunteers, Cast Members sorted toys and clothes for families in need in Paris and in areas neighbouring the resort.

Family Volunteer Day serves to encourage volunteerism and quality family time—values at the core of Disneyland Paris and other Disney Parks around the worldthrough a global partnership between The Walt Disney Company and the international Points of Light non-profit network.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”13858″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The children at Trousseau Hospital in Paris had a wonderful surprise when Disney characters came to celebrate the holidays with them.  Mickey, Minnie and Goofy all visited in their Christmas outfits, while the children got to play games and participate in fun workshops led by Disney VoluntEARS. The team of magic makers also brought gifts donated by fellow Cast Members and Disneyland Paris. In total, 1,500 gifts were distributed to hospitalised children throughout France during the month of December thanks to efforts from the Disney VoluntEARS.

Since 1991, Disneyland Paris has worked with hundreds of hospitals across France to impact more than 40,000 hospitalised children, providing comfort and inspiration for them and their families.

In addition to visiting hospitals throughout the year, the Disney VoluntEARS also welcome children with their families to Disneyland Paris throughout the year for special experiences filled with memorable moments, and in January the resort will host children from the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France to celebrate the 2020 Pièces Jaunes operation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”13903″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”13902″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To make these initiatives possible, Disneyland Paris relies on its best representatives: Disney VoluntEARS. Every year, more than 1,000 employees join the programme to participate in volunteer actions by bringing their talents, expertise, enthusiasm and their spare time.

“This programme enables our Cast Members to come together outside of their work duties to bring the same feelings of wonder and enchantment experienced by everyday guests to the less fortunate. At Disneyland Paris, any one of our 17,000 Cast Members, whatever his or her post, can become a Disney VoluntEAR. We take great pride in this programme and how our Disney VoluntEARS succeed in giving back to the community,” said Richard Eltvedt, Director of Government Affairs at Disneyland Paris.

Bringing Magic to Hospitals and Non-Profits Across France

Disneyland Paris works with hospitals and non-profits to share the magic of its resort with as many of those in need as it can. In 2018, the company supported more than 1,500 community outreach actions with more than 100 European non-profits, including onsite daytime events at the resort, wishes granted to children and Disney VoluntEARS visits to medical centres. Other volunteer actions include nature excursions and activities with children to help preserve the environment and promote awareness of biodiversity among future generations.

Save The Date: Pièces Jaunes 2020 at Disneyland Paris

Disney VoluntEARS will also play a critical part in the resort’s support of the 2020 Pièces Jaunes operation, led by the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France. In addition to joint appearances in hospitals, Disney VoluntEARS will welcome the Foundation and hundreds of children from French hospitals for a day of celebration at Disneyland Paris on 29 January 2019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Disneyland Paris celebrates the 2020 Pièces Jaunes campaign welcoming 300 children from the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France

Chairwoman of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France Brigitte Macron and Godfather of the 2020 Pièces Jaunes campaign Didier Deschamps joined Disneyland Paris President Natacha Rafalski along with the children and their families for an unforgettable day at the resort. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13937″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Today, Disneyland Paris welcomed 300 children and their families from 18 hospitals and establishments supported by the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France in celebration of the 2020 Pièces Jaunes campaign, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to the campaign and the foundation.

Over the past 27 years, Disneyland Paris has worked with the foundation on its well-known campaign, contributing in a variety of ways including the traditional coin donations from Cast Members, the donation of coins tossed by guests into fountains throughout the resort, and visiting children in many of the hospitals with Disney VoluntEARS and Disney characters.

Unprecedented for this year, children from various French hospitals were able to put their worries aside for the day and be part of the magic at Disneyland Paris for a special day-long event with Brigitte Macron, Chairwoman of the Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France and Didier Deschamps, Godfather of the 2020 Pièces Jaunes campaign.

The children were among some of the first to see the brand-new Frozen Celebration, starring Anna, Elsa and Olaf and featuring some of the music from the hit film. They also had a chance to ride a few of their favorite attractions like Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight and Autopia. Disney VoluntEARS – Cast Members who volunteer their time and expertise to participate in charity actions by the company – also led workshops where the children could let their imaginations run wild in designing the hospital of tomorrow while also painting giant Disney-themed frescos to be hung on the walls of the hospital pediatric wards.

The magical visit continued with a private concert in the heart of Disneyland Park with special performances by Vianney, Joyce Jonathan, Kendji Girac, Christophe Maé, Boulevard des Airs and Claudio Capéo. At the end of the show, the artists met with the children for an autograph signing and photo session before joining Mickey and Minnie.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13938″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Disneyland Paris has been a partner of the Pièces Jaunes campaign for 27 years. Today, we celebrate that longstanding collaboration,” said Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris. “Bringing joy and magic to children and their families is a fundamental mission of ours, and we are proud to work with the Foundation Hôpitaux de Paris – Hôpitaux de France to bring a little Disney magic to a child’s day.”[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Disney VoluntEARS: Bringing Magic To Those Who Need It Most

Seasoned Artists: The Nature & Environment team

It could easily be thought that winter is a fairly quiet time for our Nature & Environment team but, quite the contrary, instead of resting on their laurels… they are busy planting them!

Did you know that the best time of the year to plant shrubs is when it’s cold outside? November is the ideal time for planting as it allows the roots to become established before the ground freezes. Such are the secrets of our gardeners who set out to prune shrubs one last time toward the end of the fall.

As temperatures drop, our Cast Members renew the flower beds of our green spaces, replace the sick or aging plants and find new species to decorate our resort.

Rhododendron, laurel, viola: you may not be familiar with those words –they refer to floral species carefully handpicked by our teams for their beauty, flowering, color and size. Just like painters with their brushes, gardeners set up flower beds and shrubs based on the project they’ve been assigned, the location and season, for a complete change of scenery.

For instance, the team worked throughout the night to transform our parks in honor of the Frozen Celebration: blue and orange are a must this season!

“Even the floral decorations in windows require a great deal of thinking. The shrubs we use are just the right size so that they still allow a perfect view on the parks and shows from within.” Johann Pois, Nature & Environment Manager

Disneyland Paris Donates 15 Tons of Food to Solidarity Associations

In its perpetual spirit of solidarity and during temporary closures, Disneyland Paris has donated 15 tons of excess food inventory to local and national associations like Secours Populaire Français and Restaurants du Cœur, as local communities are more in need than ever during this unprecedented time.

This large-scale donation operation was accomplished thanks to Disneyland Paris Cast Members who were mobilized to identify, collect and redistribute fresh products – including salads, fruit, dairy and more – as quickly as possible.

The donation is just one example of Disneyland Paris’s longstanding corporate social responsibility commitment to reduce food waste and support those in need within the local community.

Throughout the year, many other initiatives are implemented by the resort to raise awareness and engage guests and cast members, including information signs in buffet restaurants and collection organic food waste from meal preparation in all of its restaurants.

Disneyland Paris Donates More Than 100,000 Medical Supplies and 77 Tons of Goods to Local Community

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since taking the unprecedented step to close Disneyland Paris, we have continued to focus on ways we can make a difference during this time.

In response to requests from hospitals in need of additional protective garments and medical-related supplies, Disneyland Paris has donated more than 100,000 medical supplies, including masks, hygiene caps and protective shoes to the Seine-et-Marne prefecture for distribution to hospitals in need.

These efforts follow the recent donation of an additional 62 tons of food and drinks to several hospitals, the local French Red Cross and a local solidarity grocery store for disadvantaged families. Including the previous donation of 15 tons of food to associations such as Secours Populaire Français and Restaurants du Cœur, Disneyland Paris has now donated a total of 77 tons of goods since the resort’s closure.

Disneyland Paris continues to find additional ways to give back to local communities, sharing in the longstanding history of Disney Parks giving back which dates to Walt Disney himself in the 1930s when he took Disney characters and animators on outreach visits. Sharing the magic of Disney continues today through contributions, collaborating with nonprofit organizations, in-kind gifts and employee volunteerism.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”14026″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Disneyland Paris Cast Members Show Support for Healthcare Professionals

As we look to World Health Day, several on-site Disneyland Paris teams recently showed their support for the brave work of healthcare professionals and first responders during the COVID-19 crisis.

In front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Horticulture team dedicated a colorful “merci” and the Fire and Rescue team joined in applause on behalf of all Disneyland Paris cast members to thank the many doctors, nurses and front line responders who are continuing to help so many.
