In the web series We Are Disneyland, we invite you to discover the richness and diversity of talent of the Disneyland Paris Cast Members. From Attraction hosts to Guest service, through backstage jobs, learn more about the actors of the dream. In this month’s episode of our web series, sign writer Céline Van Hoost tells us about her rare skills and passion for painting.
After obtaining a CAP qualification on Sign Writing and a placement at our workshops that turned into a permanent position, Céline has been brightening things up with her paint brush and calligraphy skills at the resort for 20 years now. Although most of Céline’s sign writing work goes on backstage at the central Workshop. But her contribution to the Show is just as important as what happens on stage. From store signs and attractions to the livery of the vehicles on Main Street, U.S.A, Céline is a mistress of the art of sign writing, adapting her style to the theme.
As she explains, “The job I do has become extremely rare in France. Here at Disneyland Paris, we have an opportunity to make sure the skills live on, helping to immerse our Guests in the theme of our stories.” As well as helping to put on a great Show for the Guests, courtesy is a key element of life backstage: “There are over 250 of us technicians in the Aladdin building, and team spirit is really important, as we work on projects involving several different workshops.”
