Music Day or not, music has always occupied an important place in the work of Walt Disney, both for its animated films with timeless songs and the the incredible partition served by the attractions and shows at Disney theme parks ! As a real stage for living entertainment, Disneyland® Paris continues every day this immutable tradition.
In film, the technological innovation of synchronized sound and the catchy melodies in the animated short “Steamboat Willie” earned Mickey Mouse his first big splash. In Fantasia, Keen to innovate, intuitive and sure of his artistic tastes, Walt Disney set the classical greats to images through fantastic animated sequence in stereophonic sound in Fantasia. And even today, the success of “Frozen” and its songs go to show that music is a key ingredient in the Disney animated movies. A palpable reality every day in Disneyland Paris, where the show “Frozen Sing-Along” occurs every day to an audience that knows by heart the main themes of the film, whose soundtrack won the Oscar for best song in 2014!
At Disneyland Paris, apart from the music heard when the visitor walks in the parks or eating out, the magic of music notes pace the live performances that accompany the seasons: every day, the measure is defeated under the Orchestra Head Robert Fienga and Music Director Vasile Sirli. Every day to the delight of music lovers, 34 musicians play dedicated musical arrangements, chosen from 3,000 melodies that make up their repertoire. Respect of the theme is very important musically: melodies accompany the stories and themes created by the Imagineers in different areas of the parks. Thus, visitors can jiggle the sound of the African Tam-Tams in Adventureland, beat their feet to the rhythm of the Cactus Country Band at Cowboy Cookout Barbecue restaurant, swing to the rhythm of brass bands that fill the air with their enchanted notes, or listen to a jazz pianist in New York City Bar. The same goes for seasons that mark the year offering a suitable directory: Halloween is an opportunity for musicians to revisit the songs of Disney Villains, while for Christmas musical trend will melt to the warm atmosphere and festive season!
In addition to immerse the visitors in the stories told by the theme parks, Disneyland Paris’ musicians radiate beyond the destination. The talents have produced themselves on the stage of major festivals such as the Europa Jazz Festival, Nice Jazz Festival and the Country Western Show. On Sunday, June 28, the Big Band from Disneyland Paris will perform in the Festival Django Reinhardt of Samois-sur-Seine.
An event that should be emphasized also left its musical footprint. Indeed, on 5 February, the Yamaha Music Group signed a partnership with Disneyland Paris, giving the opportunity to many of its musicians, as well as Disney Performing Arts Music On Stage Program, to practice on instruments whose reputation is second to none. As part of this partnership, Disneyland Paris will host from July 18 to August 13, 2015 at Videopolis, workshops of musical initiation for children between 6 and 14 years. The opportunity for the young visitors to practice the art of music in a fun way. Supervised by Disney music educators, children can choose to interpret with either the battery or the keyboard or guitar, musical themes known to all, without any requirement instrumental practice is required!
