The association chose Disneyland® Paris as the venue for celebrating its tenth anniversary on 18 September, offering children the chance to take a break from their daily struggle with cancer.
Hosted by the Corporate Citizenship team at Disneyland Paris, the children and their families spent the day having fun on the attractions, watching the parade from their own special area and having lunch with association sponsors. Disney VoluntEARS were on hand throughout the day, bringing joy and happiness to the children and families supported by the association. They had a group photo taken in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle as a permanent souvenir of a great day out.
After spending part of the day with them, TV host and association sponsor Estelle Denis thanked the volunteers, families and researchers who provide daily support. “Eyes bright with wonder, big smiles, happy kids… Thank you Disneyland Paris for giving these children and their families a magical day out and the chance to forget their everyday worries for a few hours.”
The Etoile de Martin Association was created after a two year-old boy called Martin died of a brain tumour. With the help of volunteers, the association has spent the last ten years organising numerous initiatives in support of research into paediatric cancers and improving the well-being of sick children.
