The 5th edition of the Talent School program has just been completed, and 43 Cast Members are now promoted to be team leaders. This internal training course is not the only one offered at Disneyland Paris, as the company is a true professional booster that encourages employee mobility.
An internal management program
The suspense is finally over for 43 Cast Members students at the Talent School this year. The graduates were announced on 23 February during a ceremony that crowned this 5th edition of the training program that prepared them for the role of team leader at Disneyland® Paris. Each graduate came with their referring tutor, manager or experienced team leader, who had accompanied them throughout the training program. These persons have a key role as counselor and guide, and some of them have filled this role since the very first Talent School edition four years ago.
The Talent School plays the role of a management “school” inside the company, as it alternates theoretical training and experiences on the field and thus helps Cast Members acquire the managerial skills needed to become a team leader. They can then exercise this role in one of the operational divisions of the company, be it attractions, boutiques, or restaurants, as well as in positions in maintenance, safety and environment. All the students who are trained have been working in one of these divisions for a number of years and have thus acquired a sufficient level of experience and know-how of their jobs to apply to the program. In 4 years 188 team leaders have been promoted inside the company through the program.
Karine Rebeyrolle, Director human resources operations and strategic projects underlined during the ceremony the engagement and professionalism of the Cast Members from the Talent School. They demonstrated the motivation that made the difference during the selection interviews. Daniel Delcourt, Chief operations officer, also congratulated the graduates and advised them to “stay as you are, close to your teams, honest and brave.”
Internal promotions are encouraged
Disneyland Paris is a true professional booster and the company thus encourages mobility through 1000 different training courses. In this workplace Cast Members have the possibility to develop new skills or to evolve towards managerial responsibilities. Nearly 5% of the total payroll is dedicated to on-going training and over €5.6 million are invested every year in in-house training.
In 2014, 80% of managers and senior managers in the group evolved through internal promotion. Nearly 2000 Cast Members, all divisions and job classifications considered, were promoted internally* on the same year. These are real possibilities which in part explain the high average seniority in the company (12.3 years in 2014).
