On 29 March last, fifteen candidates from television’s famous talent show The Voice joined 35 Disney VoluntEARS to give children from the association “Tout le monde chante contre le cancer” (Everyone sings against cancer) a very special day at Disneyland® Paris. From attractions and magical encounters to a private concert and autograph sessions, they gave these children and their families memories to remember forever.
The different groups of children spent the morning exploring the Disney Parks with Disney VoluntEARS who, despite the rain, were more caring and dedicated than ever. They were joined by talents from The Voice who came between two rehearsals to share friendly moments at the attractions and even take lunch with them.
In the afternoon, the Lucky Nugget Saloon turned into a television set to host a private concert at which the candidates sang their hearts out to the delight of all present. And for four children it was the chance to make a dream come true: they took to the stage under the spotlight to sing “All You Need is Love” with the talents. Anne Sila, The Voice Talent, confesses that “it was very touching to spend time with the kids this morning, we were almost more nervous singing for them than when rehearsing for the programme.”
The talents then engaged in a photo shoot and autograph signing during a friendly snack where the children were able to get autographs and kisses from their favourite stars and meet Mickey Mouse who, of course, also wanted to be present. “We came to sing and give them moments of joy but in the end it was the children who gave us strength” Battista The Voice Talent. Nicolas Rossignol, President and volunteer from the charity “Tout le Monde Chante Contre le Cancer”, wanted to thank all the people involved : « as we say here, in our events the real stars are the children. Talents and volunteers are here for them, not the other way. Today, again, they have made their eyes sparkle. »
The group then moved on to Central Plaza, where they rounded off the day by watching the Disney Magic on Parade from an area that had been specially reserved for them. One of the highlights of a totally unforgettable day, where the smiling faces and emotions made everyone forget the bad weather. For Annabelle Altmann, Senior Manager Citizenship, Charity and Ambassador Program, « This musical event especially made sense given the name of the association, with whom we’ve worked for almost ten years. These moments are extremely rewarding, both for the children and the volunteers themselves». Anthony Houdinet, Disney VoluntEAR, confirms : “It was another emotion-filled day thanks to the collaboration of the volunteers and The Voice talents who took time out for the children.”
Like Anthony, in 2014 they were more than 1100 employees in Disneyland Paris giving their their regularly for sick and underprivileged children.
