While Roger Ploum originated from the Netherlands, his career path led him to travel the world and work in four different Disney resorts, in the United States, Japan and now France. After 6 months of work here at Disneyland® Paris, we wanted to learn more about his job and the ambition he wants to give to our resort hotels.
What is your role at Disneyland Paris today?
I support our six hotels, Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch, and Disney Business Solutions. As a team, we work together to ensure that every Guest has a truly memorable stay, whether they are here to play or to work. Along with our partners in the Parks and in Disney Village, we aim to provide all our Guests with the type of quality experience they’ve come to expect from Disney. It is a daily challenge, particularly due to the rich diversity of our Guests and their extremely varied range of backgrounds. That’s quite unique around the world, even more amongst Disney parks.
What is your ambition for Disneyland Paris in the next 20 years?
For us to remain the leading tourist destination in Europe and to continuously grow the Disney brand across all different media. I look forward to us being able to leverage technology to further enhance the Guest experience before, during, and after their visit. Finally, I hope we remain the employer of choice for our Cast Members and continue to be seen as a great corporate citizen within the local community.
Making dreams come true is a real job — this is the tagline for Human Resources at Disneyland Paris. How do you share this vital concept with your employees?
Through leadership by example: I strive to always approach work with a sense of enthusiasm and to be full of positive energy. To walk around the parks and see how much our brand means to our Guests is both humbling and inspiring. So my job is to make people happy – how cool is that!?
We would like to thank Roger Ploum for this interview. You’ll find more leader portraits soon on Disneyland Paris News.
